GET ON YOUR BIKE & RIDE!

As you may have heard, Oakland has put together “slow streets” during SIP. The idea is to slow streets down of car traffic and allow people to use public streets for biking, walking, jogging etc. – I have been really impressed. Emmett (4.5 years old) and I have gone out three days in a row, starting at 42nd and Broadway and ending at Adeline St in Emeryville – riding bikes, side-by-side, chatting it up and seeing our fellow humans in action. It has been a super learning experience for him as he gets to “safely” ride next to me and practice properly stopping at stop signs and stop lights. There are other like-minded folks out there wearing masks and keeping appropriate “social distance”.

It appears that some new streets will be opening this weekend. If you live nearby, I highly recommend checking it out and practicing your bike skills while giving a friendly wave.
